Abstract The 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine has significantly impacted Anglo-American relations. It has created a divergence in Anglo-American strategic interests that has been exacerbated by the policies of the second Trump administration. The war between Russia and Ukraine forced the UK to re-focus its attention on the security of the Euro-Atlantic area and assitance for Ukraine. President Trump has affirmed that China will remain America's foremost security concern and has demoted the importance of support for Ukraine. This article assesses how the UK will seek to preserve its special security relationship with the US in the face of their contending strategic priorities.
