The article presents data on the first discovered (with confirmation of herbarium collections) species of the genus Polypogon Desf. – P. monspeliensis (L.) Desf. (Poaceae family) on the territory of the Republic of Moldova. In natural habitats, the species is found in the low meadows of the Prut River, on the damp places of the Lake Manta in the grassland association of a wet floodplain meadow. floodplain of the Prut River along the damp banks of the Lake Manta as part of the grass stand of a wet floodplain meadow. For the new species, the following information is indicated: Latin, Romanian, English and Russian names, synonymy with citation of primary sources, morphological description, general occurrence range, distribution in the Republic of Moldova, habitat association and phytocoenotic group, biomorph, rarity in the region, indicating the category of rarity.
