Motivation: High-resolution 3D MRI is essential for localizing deep-brain structures in patients with Parkinson's disease; however, accurately identifying these small, low-contrast structures is challenging. Goal(s): To evaluate whether the Wave-CAIPI method considerably reduces MP2RAGE-FLAWS scan duration while maintaining detailed visualization. Approach: MP2RAGE sequence and Wave-CAIPI protocols with various acceleration factors were compared. The image quality was assessed subjectively and objectively, considering the key brain regions. Results: Wave-CAIPI achieved substantial time reductions while preserving tissue contrast. The acceleration factors 2x2 and 2x3 provided adequate image quality, demonstrating that faster acquisition is feasible without losing critical details. Impact: The Wave-CAIPI 2x2 and 2x3 protocols markedly enhanced MRI efficiency, improving patient comfort and accessibility while maintaining high-resolution imaging essential for accurate deep-brain structure visualization in clinical practice.
