Abstract

Motivation: Volumetric neuroanatomical measures constrain source localisation in magnetoencephalography (MEG). Ultra-low field MRI (ULF-MRI) measurements of anatomy are accessible to a wider population due to both cost and implant tolerance. Goal(s): We test whether ULF-MRI can be used to adequately inform volumetric measures for MEG Approach: High resolution, high bandwidth T2w FSE images of a volunteer were collected on a 0.064T MR system and matched to 3T T1 MPRAGE scans. The LF scan was superesolved and input to a standard source localisation pipeline for an MEG gamma task Results: LF volumetrics showed insignificant distortions allowing comparable source localisation, and outperform a warped template approach Impact: MEG source localisation is significantly aided by knowledge of participant neuroanatomy. ULF-MRI offers accessible imaging to implanted populations, as well as providing nervous or younger participants clear lines-of-sight and freedom to be comforted by caregivers.
