Motivation: In MRI coil design, reducing inductive coupling between coil elements is essential to enable higher channel counts for improved parallel imaging. Customary measurement techniques can introduce errors, impacting signal quality and limiting advancements in multi-channel MRI. Goal(s): This study aims to assess the accuracy and reliability of the standard double-probe method for preamplifier decoupling and to compare it with a direct impedance measurement approach. Approach: We conducted bench measurements and simulations to compare double-probe and direct impedance methods for setting high input impedance in multi-channel coil arrays. Results: Direct impedance measurement proved more reliable, reducing error susceptibility and enhancing precision in preamplifier decoupling. Impact: Direct impedance measurement for preamplifier decoupling provides a more accurate method than traditional techniques, reducing coil coupling, improving signal quality and enabling further developments in multi-channel MRI coil design for high-resolution, parallel imaging.
