In African Pentecostalism and African spiritual worldview, demons are perceived as causative factors of evil in the spiritual world manifesting in the physical world. This link is the rationale for the ministry of Deliverance in African Pentecostalism. The reviewed literature in qualitative research demonstrated the popularity of the ministry in sub-Saharan Africa. However, this ministry has received criticism including but not limited to perceiving it: as superstitious, competing with the work of Christ, and abusive. This current study uses the liberation paradigms of missio Christos to demonstrate the importance of deliverance in the mission of Christ. Liberating mission Christos is not only about saving the lost souls but setting the same free. Equally, the mission Dei is also founded on setting the people and the nations free. The ministry of deliverance makes us understand the influence of African Pentecostalism in world Christianity, hence missiologists cannot ignore or dismiss the same.
