The article is devoted to the actual problems of modern dance culture related to the artistic interpretation of classical heritage, which, in the cultural conditions of the 21st century in Russia, requires a new creative understanding. The analysis of three ballet plays, performed at “Ural Opera Ballet”, created in the cultural traditions of Russian Silver Age (choreography by M. M. Fokin and scenography of the “World of Art” performers), proves the viability of different approaches to ballet classics: restoration (“Chopiniana”), restoration and reconstruction (“Carnival”), and creative interpretation of the artist (“Pictures at an Exhibition”).
