This article critically examines the function and deployment of «violence» as a communicative strategy within contemporary dramaturgy. It seeks to elucidate the essence of violence, its social and emotional roles, and its diverse forms and manifestations within dramatic texts. The novelty of the article: The study offers an innovative approach by focusing on violence as a communicative strategy in contemporary drama, a subject largely unexplored as a distinct and systematic area of research. It introduces into scholarly discourse various facets of violence’s application in Ukrainian and international «new writing,» particularly within the frameworks of «In‑ Yer‑ Face Theatre» and «Pokolenie Porno». Methods of the research. The research employs typological and structural methodologies, with a primary emphasis on a communicative approach to analysis. Conclusions. The communication of violence constitutes a fundamental compositional element of contemporary «new drama.» Modern dramaturgy and theatre consistently manifest violence as an indispensable component of the artistic structure of contemporary art. The very foundations of modern society, which, according to synergistic theory, has been in a state of chaos and stagnation for recent decades, are revealed to be undermined precisely by violence. Future research on this topic should involve identifying commonalities and distinctions in the portrayal of violence across the dramatic texts of Ukrainian and international playwrights at both individual and typological levels, alongside a comparative analysis of violence as a literary concept
