At the present stage, one of the most accessible and, at the same time, effective means of activating restorative processes in the human body is massage. This mechanical procedure affects the skin, muscles, internal organs of a person and is used as a concomitant therapy for the treatment of various diseases, pathological conditions, as well as to improve general well-being. The goal is to substantiate the positive influence of massage on the human body, its role in physical education and sports for the recovery of athletes after intensive loads. Results. The article identifies the multifaceted influence of massage on the nervous system, blood circulation, lymph circulation, metabolism and other vital functions of the body. Massage helps relieve muscle cramps, enhances their blood supply and nutrition, improves tone and helps prevent muscle atrophy. It is noted that massage techniques quickly restore strength during intensive physical exertion. Timely preventive massage makes it possible to avoid the severe consequences of sports training. Some massage therapists claim that sports massage helps increase endurance, improve adaptation to physical and psycho-emotional stress, and also serves as a prevention of injuries. As a result, it helps to achieve better sports results and deserves special attention. Conclusions. Massage has undeniable benefits for the body. It activates blood circulation, normalizes metabolic processes, reduces muscle spasms, increases skin and vascular tone, promotes relaxation, pain relief, improves well-being and strengthens immunity. However, despite the significant number of indications for massage procedures, there are also contraindications. The patient should be aware of them in order to avoid possible harm to health.
