The subject of the study is the standard of living of the population. The purpose of the study is to assess the differentiation of the standard of living of the population in the context of regions of the Russian Federation. The objectives of the study are to study the state of the standard of living of the population based on the assessment of its individual characteristics. Leaders and outsiders among the regions were identified based on the results of the assessment. Novelty of the study: government measures are proposed to improve the standard of living of the population and reduce regional imbalance. Conclusions: Currently, an active policy is being pursued to overcome regional disparities and develop territories. State financial incentive measures are used in the form of infrastructure loans, tax breaks, support for priority industries and activities. It is important to note that in order to reduce inter-territorial disparities, it is necessary to create favorable economic conditions and attract private investment.
