This review delves into the prevalence of dual diagnosis among young people, highlighting the critical need for integrated treatment strategies that address both mental health and substance use disorders simultaneously. Traditional treatment models often separate mental health care from substance abuse treatment, leading to fragmented care that may fail to address the underlying causes and interconnected nature of these conditions. By contrast, integrated treatment approaches that combine psychiatric care, behavioral therapies, and substance abuse interventions show greater promise in improving outcomes for young people.
