Objectives The purpose of this study is to examine the structural relationship between the mother's psychological control, self-control, and depression perceived by adolescents. Methods For this study, the researcher conducted a survey of high school students, and the data collected were statistically analyzed using SPSS 24.0 and AMOS 24.0. Results First, the mother's psychological control perceived by adolescents was shown to have a significant and negative impact on self-control. Second, the self-control of adolescents had a significant and negative impact on depression. Third, the mother's psychological control perceived by adolescents had a significant and positive impact on depression. Fourth, in the relationship between the perceived mother's psychological control of adolescents and their depression, self-control had a significant mediating effects. Conclusions The implication of this study is that, in order to reduce the emotion of depression in adolescents, it is necessary to increase self-control, which can be achieved if mothers refrain from controlling their children psychologically.
