Abstract Introduction The impact of Covid – 19 continues to influence the incidence of temporary disability among active care general hospital workers. In 2022, sick leaves with the diagnosis: Covid - 19, identified and unidentified virus are the leading cause of incapacity for work among healthcare workers. Materials and methods A survey was conducted among 1423 workers from a multispecialty hospital for active treatment in Bulgaria, 728 sick sheets submitted in 2022 were processed. In the analysis of temporary incapacity, a number of statistical indicators were used - frequency of cases, frequency of days and average duration of one case, as well as the patients by types of diseases and nosological groups. Results and discussion The highest frequency of cases - 46.83 and 19.67 - frequency of lost work days, preventing the performance of work among health professionals and in 2022 is due to the temporary morbidity with the diagnosis: Covid - 19, identified and unidentified virus, followed by diseases from the class of diseases of the bone-muscular system and connective tissue and from the class of neoplasms. Conclusion The thesis is confirmed that workers in the healthcare sector are exposed to a high risk of biological, ergonomic, and psycho-social risk factors, requiring continuous health monitoring, active prevention of detected diseases and health promotion.
