Conserving culture, staining nature: a holistic approach to tourism in Kampung Naga Tasikmalaya

Abstract This research investigates Kampung Naga’s cultural and environmental tourist boom. The study examines community engagement, empowerment, and tourism sustainability, using field investigations, interviews, and qualitative data analysis. The research explores the relationship between tourism and culture, environmentalism, nature conservation, and community participation, with a focus on promoting sustainable tourism. The findings suggest that sustainable tourism can benefit Kampung Naga’s economy, society, and environment, by preserving local cultural integrity and ecological sustainability, and promoting community interests. As this research is carried out, preserving the environment has a direct impact on the resilience of cultural preservation in Kampung Naga. Indirectly, the entire local community is the main key in maintaining cultural preservation by maintaining unique culture and identity as an attraction, community participation and decision making for every planning and maintaining tourism areas, and maintaining harmony between the community and the environment which continues to develop from Socio - Ecological systems approach. The study stresses the relevance of cultural preservation and ecological sustainability in tourist expansion and the local community’s role in sustainable tourism. These consequences highlight the necessity to integrate cultural conservation and ecological sustainability into tourist expansion to preserve unique cultural assets and conserve the environment for future generations.
