• Data collected using the FIES 30 days framed can be used to reliably estimate prevalence of acute food insecurity including in high food insecurity contexts. • Proper methods and parameters are proposed for use of the FIES 30-day framed in IPC/CH assessments. • The severity of food insecurity defined for SDG monitoring purposes should be recognized as much lower than the severity referred to in reports on acute food insecurity. • The results will aid proper interpretation of statistics published in high visibility reports, such as the SOFI and the GRFC.
