This study expands upon an innovative, all-optical, real-time, nonlinear temporal compression technique based on a counter-propagating degenerate four-wave mixing interaction in a birefringent optical fibre. Specifically, we provide a proof-of-principle demonstration of an advanced time-interleaving procedure, enabling the multiplexing of a 10-Mbit/s data packet within a 10-Gbit/s data sequence, achieving a record compression factor of 4350 alongside the demonstration of time-reversal capabilities. The proposed approach is scalable, holding promise for dynamic optical networks, buffering applications, and the generation of ultrafast waveforms.
