Accession to the European Union implies respect for democracy, human rights and European values, as well as meeting political, economic and administrative criteria. The European Council approved the opening of accession negotiations with the Republic of Moldova in December 2023, and the latter must implement far-reaching reforms and legislative changes to align with European standards and the Union acquis. In this article, the national case-law developed by the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court of Justice in the field of application of European Union law and accession to her values is reflected and analysed. Although the application of the acquis was not an obligation of the state, formally speaking, given that it is not yet a member of the European Union, this fact shows, however, the clear direction of European integration of the Republic of Moldova.
