High rates of development of the oil and gas industry, an increase in production volumes, as well as the remoteness of developing industry facilities inevitably lead to an increase in energy consumption and the complexity of energy systems. The main consumer of electricity of these facilities are electric motors of drive devices of compressors, pumps, power outages of which can lead to large economic losses. The article deals with the problem of testing the relay protection of an electric motor. The digital twin is a developed set of digital protection algorithms that complies with IEC 61850 standards and allows you to identify problems with digital protection of electric motors before they are operated in normal mode, automate the selection of setpoints and evaluate the protection response to various operating modes without resorting to extreme tests of a real machine. The study of the proposed digital motor protection model has shown an increase in the sensitivity and reliability of digital relay protection, which minimizes the risks associated with erroneous actions of personnel.
