Home automation systems have recently received a lot of attention as a result of rapid and advanced technological developments that have made daily life more comfortable. Many things have been automated and made available online. The Internet of Things (IoT) will make home automation easier and more popular than ever before. There are many different types of commercial home automation systems on the market right now. However, these are intended for limited use. This study focuses on a home automation system that incorporates IoT and an Android mobile application. As a result, household appliances can be managed remotely from anywhere in the world. The mobile app controls various household appliances via IoT. To complete this objective, we selected the Node-MCU microcontroller. Real-time parameters are measured using temperature, motion, and smoke sensors. Next, MIT App Inventor creates an Android smartphone application for controlling and monitoring the home. Firebase Cloud is used to provide wireless connectivity between the built Android app and the hardware. The proposed system's hardware, mobile application, and cloud functionality are tested using a range of inputs. The proposed system successfully controls and monitors household appliances using the mobile application created for it. People of older generations and those with disabilities will benefit from this research.
