Buildings serve as a representation of a global metropolis and are achievements of structural engineering.Building behavior during an earthquake is influenced by its design, scale, and geometry in addition to how the seismic stresses are transmitted to the ground.Thus, it is the structural engineers' job to make sure that unwanted components are kept out of the picture and that the right building configuration is chosen early on in the planning phase.must feature column-free space because of land scarcity, population density, and aesthetic and practical demands.In today's world of multi-story buildings in urban India, floating columns are a critical component, yet they are extremely dangerous in structures constructed in seismically active places.This work analyzes a multi-story building with and without floating columns using the response spectrum method.This work presents comparative study of a G+6 storied building with external and internal floating columns and regular columns with seismic behavior.This work includes the analysis and design of the floating column and regular column structures by using STAAD pro software.In case External and Internal Floating column, increases the Mx and Mz value at all the floor for both the zones i.e.Zone II and Zone III.External and Internal Floating columns) and case Internal Floating Columns may increase Axial Force Fx and Shear in z direction (Fz) at all floors.1.5(DL+EQZ)or 1.5(DL+EQX) these load combinations are found critical, depending on position of floating columns.Case External Floating columns and Case External with Internal Floating columns may increase displacements at various nodes.
