As the present author has argued previously (in, e.g., Blaber, 2023b 1; 2023c 2), the presence of natural and moral evil in our world cannot be reconciled with the concept of a creator God who is omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent and supremely good, but can with one who is not good. Such a being, if he/she/it exists, would be more like the Gnostic Demiurge than the God of Judaism, Christianity or Islam. Gnosticism, however, posits the existence of a ‘true God’, and Hinduism offers the alternative concept of ‘Brahman’. Can either of these two concepts rescue ‘God’ from condemnation?
