A Study to Assess the Severity of Menopausal Symptoms and Quality of Life among Postmenopusal Women Attending Opds at Selected Hospitals of Perinthalmanna

The present study titled “A study to assess the severity of menopausal symptoms and quality of life among postmenopausal women attending OPDs at selected hospitals of Perinthalmanna.” is based on following Objectives:Assess the severity of menopausal symptoms among postmenopausal women, assess the quality of life among the postmenopausal women, find out the association quality of life of postmenopausal women and selected demographic Variables. Methodology: The quantitative research approach is used and non experimental cross sectional descriptive research design was selected for the study. The present study is based on the concept “ Theory of Unpleasant symptoms” by Andreu Gift, Renee Milligan, Elizabeth Lenz, Linda Pugh. The data was collected by using the MENQOL questionnaire and menopause rating scale. Analysis: The data were analysed by descriptive and inferential statistics. Result:The study revealed that among 60 postmenopausl women 35% of the participants have moderate symptoms,26.6% have severe symptoms,25% have mild symptoms and 13.33% have no or little symptoms and regarding the quality of life study shows that 38.33% of the participants have average quality of life,30% have poor quality,16.66% have good quality and 15% have an excellent quality of life. Conclusion: From this study it is evident that there is significant association between age and quality of life and there is no significant association between any other sociodemographic variables.
