The article reveals the psychological characteristics of motivation and career self-efficacy and adaptability of employment service clients in wartime conditions. The importance of the topic is determined by the need to find psychological resources that ensure flexibility and resilience of the individual in the labour market. The aim of the study was to identify and analyse the psychological characteristics of motivation, career self-efficacy and adaptability among employment service clients with different career orientations. The task was to determine the determinants that promote or hinder professional self-realisation in conditions of military challenges. The study design was based on quantitative analysis of data obtained using standardised psychodiagnostic methods: E. Schein's ‘Career Anchors’, ‘Motivational Influences on Career Choice’ (D. Barbuto and R. Skolka; adapted by O. Sydorenko), Methodology for Studying Professional Motivation (T. Dutkevich, O. Savitska), ‘Career Self-Efficacy Scale’ (E. Kossek et al.; adapted by M. Tichenko), ‘Short Form of the Career Adaptability Scale’ (K. Maggiori et al.; adapted by L. Karamushka, K. Tereshchenko, M. Tichenko). Correlation and comparative analysis were used, which made it possible to establish patterns between career orientations, motivation levels, self-efficacy and adaptability. The study was empirical in nature and was conducted on a sample of employment service clients. A hypothesis was put forward that internal motivation and orientation towards professional competence are associated with higher indicators of career self-efficacy and adaptability. The results of the study revealed that respondents with orientations towards professional competence, entrepreneurship and lifestyle integration had the most optimal indicators of motivational structure, career self-efficacy and adaptability. A comparison of customer groups by leading orientations was carried out, and the specifics of their motivational profiles were presented. It was found that the lowest indicators are characteristic of customers oriented towards stability of work and place of residence. The psychological characteristics of professional motivation, self-efficacy and adaptability were described, and the factors that contribute to and hinder professional fulfilment were summarised. Recommendations were formulated regarding the need for targeted psychological support for the most vulnerable groups. This is an empirical article.
