Abstract Homelessness is one of the most pressing issues of our time. Comics present a means for researchers to collect and document personal experiences that can reach wide audiences while honoring the stories of individuals. In this essay, I describe a community-based research project that seeks to change how we talk, teach, and think about homelessness and poverty using the collaborative creation of comics based on personal experience narratives. The essay includes examples from comics published in our book based on that project.
