Introduction. The research problem lies in the contradiction between the evolving female cinematic image in contemporary Russian cinema and the lack of systematic analysis of its connection with socio-political and demographic processes. The research examines the transformation of the patriotic cinematic image of Russian women from the 1990s to the 2020s and its relationship with socio-political and demographic developments. The materials and methods . Films and TV series available on Film.ru, IMDb, KinoPoisk, and in the archive of the Russian State Film Fund have been used. Methods of quantitative-qualitative content analysis, discursive interpretation, comparative-historical, visual, narrative, hermeneutic, and comparative analysis, as well as the annotated primary texts method have been employed. The research considers the topic from the 1890s (the advent of cinema) to the 1980s (the final decade of the Soviet era). The results . Developmental trajectory of the patriotic cinematic image of Russian women has been identified and substantiated: Soviet cinema presented a symbiosis of traditional gender roles and equality, where women achieved professional and familial fulfillment. In the post-Soviet cinematic discourse, traditional roles diminished as narratives emphasized female independence. The heroine is portrayed as a solitary figure who, while not devoid of aspirations for marital or serious relationships, finds them transient, constrained, or unattainable. Discussion and conclusion . The findings can be used to develop an updated female image aligned with traditional value ideals. Future research should focus on strategies for promoting patriotism, family values, and childbirth through contemporary male and female cinematic representations.
