The theory of B. N. Putilov was based on a solid innovative research base, and therefore it is necessary to dwell on a number of basic final conclusions made by his predecessors. The article presents various points of view on the nature and evolution of the epic, starting from A. N. Veselovsky, V. M. Zhirmunsky, V. Ya. Propp and ending with B. N. Putilov. The development of the views of scientists, their controversy and continuity are shown. This article continues and clarifies a number of provisions of the article: Eremina V. I.
