Spectral measurements of atmospheric water vapor concentration in the range of 1651 to 1653 nm in the presence of solar radiation were performed. The serial Anritsu MS9710C optical spectrum analyzer with a spectral resolution to 0.05 nm was used in the experiments. Experimentally retrieved total precipitable water (TPW) in the range of 1651 to 1653 nm was compared with the model simulation based on surface meteorological observations. The error in TPW measurements by a solar spectrophotometer was estimated. Possible causes for discrepancies between spectral and meteorological measurements were considered. The proposed technique allows both performing long-term monitoring of atmospheric concentration and moisture content and obtaining operational information in real time.
