Introduction: In Ayurveda , Anidra correlates with lack of sleep. One of the body’s most fundamental and essential needs is sleep. That is why Ayurveda emphasizes the significance of sleep, calling it one of the “three supporting pillars of life” as Trayoupasthambh. Aim: To compare the efficacy of Shankhpushpi Churna and Mansyadi Kwath in the management of Anidra (Insomnia). Material and Methods: A randomized, controlled, open- label, single centered clinical trial was conducted on 30 patients of Anidra (Insomia). Patients aged between 18-60 years having clinical characteristics of Anidra as detailed in the Astang Sangraha Angamarda (Bodyache), Shirogaurav (Heaviness of the Head), Jhimbhra (Yawning), Jadyata (Lethargy), Glani (Weakness), Bhram (Dizziness), Apakti (Indigestion), Tandra (Drowsiness) and PSQI score more than 5 were included. The assessment was carried out on the basis of reduction in PSQI score and improvement in symptoms. Results: Significant improvement was found in PSQI score reduction in both the groups. Conclusion: The clinical trial found an overall improvement in the symptoms of Anidra in both the groups and the participants who had received Mansyadi Kwath have better result, demonstrating its potential in managing this disease.
