The housing problem for elderly households in Korea is getting worse. In particular, as the economic burden increased after COVID-19, low-cost public rental housing has become an important housing alternative for elderly households. This study analyzed changes in housing satisfaction and influencing factors for elderly households living in integrated public rental housing programs in 2019 and 2022. An empirical analysis was conducted using 2019 and 2022 Korean Housing Survey data and ordered logistic regression analysis. Pre-integration public rental housing programs collectively refer to Permanent Public Rental Housing, National Public Rental Housing, and Happy Housing. As a result of the study, the housing satisfaction among elderly households residing in pre-integration public rental housing programs decreased after COVID-19, and the influencing factors also changed. After COVID-19, the factors influencing housing satisfaction shifted from physical elements of the housing and the social environment to factors related to infection control and living convenience, and the tendency to prioritize personal convenience over social relationships strengthened. This study presents policy implications to be considered when constructing Integrated Public Rental Housing, which will be a major supply type of public rental housing in the future.
