The authors examine the essence and features of the interaction between the Cuban Communist Party (under the names of Revolutionary Communist Union and Popular Socialist Party) and the world communist movement. The analysis is focused both on the role of the NSP as a coordinator, adviser and mediator in the activities of Latin American communist parties during and after the dissolution of Cominform, as well as on its relations with the July 26 Movement led by Fidel Castro before the Cuban revolution and in the first years after its victory. Special emphasis is placed on the study of the role of the Cuban Communists in the transit of the revolution when F. Castro called for the proclamation of a socialist character of this revolution. The article is based on archival documents of the Central Committee of the CPSU.
