A BSTRACT Background: This study was designed to fill this gap by providing baseline data to support evidence-based planning of orthodontic services in the region. The aim of the cross-sectional study was to assess the orthodontic treatment need (OTN) in the population of North India. Methodology: The study was executed on a sample population of 200 school-going students aged 12–15 years. The Dental Health Component (DHC) of the Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need (IOTN) was utilized for the evaluation of the requirement for orthodontic treatment. Clinical examinations were carried out following standard protocols. Results: Based on DHC of IOTN, 43% of participants showed no OTN, 32% had borderline need, and 25% exhibited a need for definitive treatment. Among these, crossbites accounted for a significant proportion. Conclusion: This study provides essential foundational data for planning future orthodontic care in the region. The application of IOTN enables standardized assessment and facilitates comparisons at both national and international levels.
