AbstractCamels exhibit extraordinary resilience to arid environments by enduring extreme salinity and drought through specialised adaptations. Emerging research highlights the critical regulatory roles of non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) in mediating salt and drought resistance. ncRNAs play a pivotal role by integrating osmoregulatory, metabolic and antioxidative responses to fortify camels against extreme desert condition. This review synthesises recent advances in our understanding of evolutionary adaptations and proposes strategies for improving stress tolerance in agriculturally significant species.
