This paper proposes a spectral interpretation of the neutron as a self-confined electromagnetic standing wave. Within this framework, the neutron can exist in three confinement regimes: fully confined (stable nuclei), partially confined (radioactive nuclei), and free (unbound). Gamma emission is interpreted as a result of spectral relaxation when the confinement weakens — especially in the free neutron state. Two experimental tests are suggested: (1) a modified neutron double-slit experiment including gamma detectors, and (2) magnetic confinement observation of ultra-cold neutrons. If confirmed, these results may clarify the link between matter and radiation and provide insight into the unification of electromagnetic and nuclear interactions
