Rituximab is an effective treatment for pemphigus but it is not known whether continuation of mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) after treatment improves clinical outcomes. This study demonstrates that continuation of MMF with prednisolone is not associated with improved or prolonged treatment responses compared to prednisolone alone. Adjuvant treatment with MMF was, however, associated with a CD8 T cell lymphopaenia suggestive of an increased risk of infection.
