Purpose This paper aims to review the latest management developments across the globe and pinpoint practical implications from cutting-edge research and case studies. Design/methodology/approach This briefing is prepared by an independent writer who adds their own impartial comments and places the articles in context. Findings This article explores how employee age and performance dimensions (task vs contextual) influence turnover intentions, particularly for organizations with ambitious reputations or stakeholder orientations. Using survey data from 3,606 Estonian employees, the research found that high contextual performers are more likely to leave for ambitious employers, while task performance and stakeholder orientation had no significant effect on turnover. Older employees demonstrated higher task performance but lower contextual performance, aligning with lifespan development theories. Key managerial insights include leveraging reputation to retain top talent and tailoring roles to age-specific strengths to enhance engagement and reduce attrition. Originality/value The briefing saves busy executives, strategists and researchers hours of reading time by selecting only the very best, most pertinent information and presenting it in a condensed and easy-to-digest format.
