This document provides a contextual commentary accompanying the preprint“Epistemic Space Shaping as a Complementary Approach to AI Safety.” Its purpose is to situate the conceptual arguments of the main paper within a broader societal and governance-oriented perspective. Rather than introducing new theoretical claims or empirical results, the commentary highlights why epistemic effects of human–AI interaction may become relevant prior to advanced capability thresholds. The text focuses on the role of linguistic form in shaping human cognitive participation, epistemic autonomy, and the attribution of responsibility in AI-mediated environments. It is intended to support interpretability of the main paper, clarify its relevance for policy and governance discussions, and articulate the motivation underlying the proposed conceptual framework.
