Highlights• We estimate the effects of climate variability and change on agricultural revenues of small-scale farmers in Kenya.• We use a balanced panel household data set collected in 2000, 2004, 2007 and 2010 from eight agro-regional zones and climate data from 1980 to 2010.• We assess the effects of climate variability and change using a household fixed effects model.• Results imply that climate variability and change significantly affect smallholders livelihoods with greater effects in the Kenyan tea sector.• We also find that temperature has larger impacts on crop production than rainfall.
