I photographed my friends in the studio in Berlin seven years ago. All of them were in front of a black or white wall; the pictures are in black and white or colour, in portrait or landscape format. All the people portrayed are more or less the same age, somewhere between 40 and 50. I was interested in this time when they were no longer young, but not yet old. A time in limbo. In this time of change, the models have left a lot behind them and have already lived a lot. But since the future is not absolutely certain for many of them, there was this precarious moment that I wanted to capture. All of them seem exhausted and now, after seven years, in the pictures and in life, they appear to have even less energy. I asked all the models to write their own text, poems or comments. They more than confirmed my impression.
Heidi Specker (Mon,) studied this question.
