This work introduced one new sensor based on Ni(OH) 2 nanosheets and Pt nanosheets on the surface of Ni foam (Pt-Ni(OH) 2 -NF) for electrochemical detection of ammonia-nitrogen in the aqueous environment. This Pt-Ni(OH) 2 -NF sensor has been fabricated via hydrothermal synthesis method and electrochemical I-t technique. The electrochemical deposition process of Pt nanosheets have been controlled including deposition time and deposition potential. The optimized Pt-Ni(OH) 2 -NF showed the best electrochemical catalytic activity for ammonia oxidation reaction compared to other samples. Furthermore, optimized Pt-Ni(OH) 2 -NF exhibited great electrochemical detection performances for ammonia-nitrogen via differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) technique. The detection limit, sensitivity and linear range have been calculated with the value of 1.124 μM, 61.4 μA μM -1 and from 5 to 1000 μM based on the measured results. Finally, the selectivity and other measurements have been conducted and showed the great performances.
