The paper characterizes the current stage of social development, characterized by increasing impact of market factors on the sphere of training of highly professional specialists for national and regional economy. Based on the analysis of foreign and Russian scientific literature, general systemic competitive processes occurring in higher education and causing greater convergence of universities and business structures are identified. The forms of network interaction between universities and business are considered. The effects of network collaborations of higher education institutions and corporate structures for the surrounding space are revealed. The need for development and support of network interaction in the regions of the country is determined. The goal, objectives and tools for ensuring the mechanism for implementing network collaborations of the university with business structures are specified. The novelty of the proposed mechanism lies in providing conditions for successful involvement of industry management bodies, interested business structures, NGOs and civil society in the processes of strategic planning of scientific, educational and innovation-technological process, which is a factor in successful competitive positioning of the regional economic system. The results of the work may be in demand in the activities of regional and sectoral management bodies, the management of higher education institutions in improving the scientific and educational process to ensure significant socio-economic effects of regional development.
