Case overview/synopsis The case “NaPanta’s ‘Smart Kisan App’ - An Agritech Platform Providing Complete Agricultural Solutions to Farmers” is about the agritech platform “NaPanta Smart Kisan App” started by Naveen Kumar in Hyderabad, India. The agritech platform provided services to the farmers related to agri-inputs and agri-outputs at a single place, thereby eliminating the need for middlemen and distributors. The case starts off with the incident that brought about a change in Naveen Kumar’s perspectives on Indian farmers and the need and potential for agritech in India.The case highlights the challenges faced by Naveen Kumar in his entrepreneurial journey. The Napanta platform and its mode of functioning are explained further along with its business model. Based on each farmer’s profile, NaPanta also provided crop advisory services to the farmers such as how to cultivate the most suitable crop, the correct fertilizer and pesticide to use and the right time for harvesting and processing the agri-outputs. NaPanta planned to replicate the model in other states and further expand its services across the country.
