ABSTRACT Visual acuity was psychometrically measured over a wide range of luminances for four amblyopes to explore the contention that amblyopic eye improve in acuity in dim light and have an acuity equal or better than the normal eye. In our experiment, acuity of the amblypic eyes did not improve with low luminance but declined as for the normal eyes At easentially all luminances, acuity of the amblypic eye was less than that of the normal eye, and at the lowest luminances both eyes approximatted each other in acuity.
