ABSTRACT:The study evaluated the effectiveness of traditional leaders in curbing land grabbing in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design; three research questions guided the study. The population of the study consisted of all 423 registered community development committee (CDC) leaders in the area. Purposive sampling techniques were adopted to arrive at the sample size of 150 CDC leaders in the study. The instrument for data collection was a researcher-structured questionnaire titled: Evaluating Community Development Committee Leaders on the Effectiveness of Traditional Leaders in Curbing Land Grabbing Questionnaire. The reliability of the instrument was determined using Cronbach's Alpha reliability method. Research questions were answered using mean and standard deviation. The findings of the study showed that traditional leaders are corrupt in curbing land grabbing, most CDC leaders agreed that social dynamics affect traditional leaders in curbing land grabbing.
