Background and aims: The American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) 8 th Edition colorectal cancer (CRC) staging system has been consistently demonstrated to show non-hierarchical survival outcomes, with stage IIIa survival approximating stage I and exceeding stage II. The AJCC Colon Cancer Expert Panel (AJCCCCEP) has attempted to address this with proposals for the 9 th Edition to incorporate tumour deposit (TD) burden together with refined nodal stratification. 1 We sought to assess these proposals in a large single-centre cohort.
