The article is devoted to the problem of adequate translation of cultural context in the novel The Brothers Karamazov written by the great Russian writer of the 19th century Fyodor Dostoyevsky into English. The samples of cultural elements belonging to such linguistic categories as national realia, emotive words and phraseological units have been chosen from the two translations into English made by Constance Garnett and Richard Pevear followed by analysis, both stylistic and translation.
