Introduction. In the context of the development of the media environment and digital communication, the study of linguistic mechanisms that influence mass consciousness has become particularly relevant. One such mechanism is binominal stable coordinated constructions (BSCCs), which play a key role in organizing semantic and ideological oppositions, as well as in shaping cognitive schemes of media interpretation. Objective. To identify the functions, thematic distribution, and usage mechanisms of BSCCs in the discursive practices of contemporary Russian mass media, and to reveal their role in the formation of media images and cognitive interpretation scenarios. Methodology, methods, and techniques. The study employed semanticpragmatic, discourse, and quantitative-statistical methods. The material consisted of 1,109 BSCCs extracted from the newspaper subcorpus of the National Corpus of the Russian Language. Results. The key functions of BSCCs were identified: highlighting, expressive, manipulative, and stereotypical. Their involvement in the creation of media images and cognitive interpretation schemes, as well as in the formation of semantic and ideological oppositions in media discourse, was established. Scientific novelty. The study reveals the role of BSCCs as a mechanism of semantic compression and as an instrumental tool for forming evaluative and ideological attitudes, along with their functional characteristics in the media space. Practical significance. The findings can be used in the development of media-education courses, the preparation of methodological recommendations for journalists and educators, and in the design of exercises aimed at developing skills for analyzing media texts and understanding discourse strategies.
