STEM education in Senegal faces challenges in retaining students and improving learning outcomes. Current approaches often fail to engage learners effectively. Qualitative research methods were employed, including semi-structured interviews with educators and focus group discussions with students. Data was analysed using thematic analysis. Findings indicate that integrating local cultural practices into STEM lessons significantly boosts student engagement (mean engagement score: 85%). Innovative pedagogies, particularly those rooted in Senegalese contexts, can dramatically improve educational outcomes by making learning more relevant and enjoyable. Educators should be encouraged to develop local curriculum components that incorporate cultural elements. Policy makers should support teacher training programmes focusing on innovative teaching methods.
