Water quality is a critical issue in rural Ethiopian villages, affecting public health and economic development. A comparative analysis was conducted using data collected from water samples analysed by laboratory tests. Interviews with community members were also used to gather qualitative insights. In Village A, the system detected higher levels of E. coli contamination compared to Village B, necessitating immediate intervention strategies. The deployment of water quality monitoring systems in rural Ethiopian villages has shown promise for improving access to safe drinking water but requires tailored interventions based on specific findings. Communities should be involved in the selection and maintenance of monitoring systems to ensure sustainability. Policy makers need to consider funding mechanisms that support these initiatives.
