A review of existing laws, case studies, and interviews with stakeholders to assess the adequacy of current legal provisions and practical implementation challenges. Corporate non-compliance is prevalent in key sectors such as oil and gas, agriculture, and mining. Enforcement actions against violators are infrequent, often due to inadequate resources and political interference. While Nigeria has robust environmental laws, their enforcement remains weak, highlighting the need for more effective legal frameworks and stakeholder engagement strategies. Enhanced monitoring mechanisms, increased government funding for enforcement agencies, and improved collaboration between regulatory bodies are recommended to address corporate non-compliance effectively.
