The NHS is currently facing a shortage of paediatric dermatologists, which is negatively impacting the care of children and young people with skin disease. We conducted a survey of UK dermatology trainees exploring the level and duration of paediatric dermatology training received during their programmes and their career intentions with regards to practising paediatric dermatology as a consultant. Our results show variations in paediatric dermatology training throughout the UK and a low proportion of trainees who plan to do paediatric dermatology clinics as a consultant.
